Vietnam growing climate change education for a more sustainable future
In Vietnam, where 99.5 per cent of children are exposed to multiple climate and environmental shocks, climate change is already threatening children’s learning, health and safety. Yet climate change education remains unevenly implemented and often theoretical.
Save the Children in Vietnam is advancing a child-centred, system-integrated approach that enables children to adopt green behaviours and climate-resilient practices through contextualized learning materials, teacher capacity building, and structured student participation. The approach also promotes experiential learning through a Climate Change Education Centre and links classroom learning with ecosystem restoration and community resilience efforts.
In 2025, 13,660 children engaged in climate education initiatives, with 258 young people leading climate campaigns. Evidence shows measurable gains in knowledge and sustained climate-friendly practices, underscoring Save the Children’s role in advancing scalable, policy-aligned climate education.
