Adopted at COP28 in Dubai in December 2023, the Declaration on the Common Agenda for Education and Climate Change is the first global political acknowledgment of the critical link between education and climate action. Endorsed by 39 countries across every region, it calls on member states to commit across three pillars: adapt, mitigate, and invest.

The Declaration sets out a path for nations to integrate education into national climate strategies, develop climate-smart education policies, and strengthen financing for climate-resilient education systems.

It was developed through the UNESCO-led Greening Education Partnership with support from GPE partner countries.
