What are the likely impacts of rising temperatures on students and how are countries adapting?
This OECD brief examines how rising temperatures are affecting students’ health, wellbeing and learning outcomes, and what school systems are doing to adapt. Drawing on new analysis combining school location data with climate projections, it finds that by 2050 children in many countries will face significantly more hot days at school. The brief outlines adaptation measures already underway — from adjusting school calendars and investing in cooling systems to redesigning outdoor spaces — and weighs the trade-offs between them.
